After inspection, the following items may be allowed in the resident’s room:
o Fans
o Blow-dryers
o Refrigerators (inspected daily for temperature control compliance)
o Recliners
o Televisions
o Plug in radios
o Lamps
o Hot rollers  
o Microwaves*
o Electric lift chair (floor space must be available)
o VCR players, DVD players, electronic gaming systems

*In addition to maintenance inspection, authorization by the Director of Nursing must be obtained to ensure that the operation of the microwave does not interfere with other patients in the center who may be on a pacemaker. Proper signage must be posted.  

o 7 – 10 days’ worth of clothing
o Nonskid shoes for therapy
o Appropriate undergarments
o Hangers for clothing
o Personal items for room (decorating)
o If you have a specific brand you use for hygiene
o Please make sure all items are labeled with resident’s last name

You are always allowed to visit your loved ones in the center; however, we ask that you are mindful of others as this is their home. If you have any further questions, please ask the administrator.

Administrator
The Administrator is responsible for all operations in the center. They manage a facility that operates 24/7/365 that gives continuous care for our residents. The administrator of the center is an advocate for the residents, staff, and families. Should you wish to speak to your center’s administrator, please let one of our staff know. We have an open-door policy.

Director of Nursing (DON) / Clinical Supervisor/Unit Managers
The DON and nursing management team are available to meet with residents, family members, or any person you have designated to coordinate your care. The DON is responsible for the entire nursing staff, as well as maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.

Charge Nurse
Each shift will have a nurse who is working the hall that you or your family member is living on. This nurse is responsible for reporting changes to your physician, receiving orders from your physician, and is considered the liaison between you and your physician while you are staying at our center. If you are in need of a nurse, please push the call button. 

Treatment Nurse
This nurse evaluates skin conditions and follows physician orders to apply bandages and medications to skin wounds, decubitus, tears, post-surgical incisions and scrapes. Weekly reports are given to the Director of Nursing.

Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs)
CNAs are responsible for assisting you with dressing, bathing, feeding, and toileting. If you are in need of a nurse aid, please push the call light.

Certified Medication Aides (CMAs)

CMA’s are responsible for administering your medications.

Restorative Aides
Restorative Aides are CNAs who work with residents who have completed rehab services. They continue to help with walking, self-feeding, and other skills that were on the rehab treatment plan. They also assist long-term residents if there is a change in condition noted by creating a therapy program to increase their level of strength and mobility.

Maintenance Director
The Maintenance Director is responsible for the repair and upkeep of this building and grounds. Please inform a staff member or the Maintenance Director if something in your room breaks or is not working properly. 

Laundry/ Housekeeping Services

Housekeeping is in charge of cleaning your room, the restroom, common areas, offices, and the dining room. No cleaning will be done during mealtimes in compliance with Infection Control Guidelines. A complementary laundry service is provided. Should you wish to use this service, simply notify a staff member. If you wish to opt for a family member to do your laundry, please provide a covered laundry hamper for your room. It is recommended to label ALL clothing items with your name in the event it is taken to the laundry because it is soiled. Housekeeping is available daily.

Dietary
The Dietary Department is supervised by a Dietary Manager. A licensed dietician is responsible for planning menus, making recommendations to your physician based on your nutritional needs, and monitor your dietary progress.

Activities Director
The Activities Director is available Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. However, activities are available 7 days a week. There are also room activities available for you to choose from. If you have any special requests or ideas for an activity, please let us know. There is an activities calendars located in your room for convenience.  

Social Services Director
A licensed social worker is available to assist you or family members with the resident’s related psychological needs, counseling, roommate issues, Medicaid application questions, advanced directive planning, and/ or other needs you have. They assist you with discharge planning for residents that are planning on going home and arrange for services and equipment needed at home. The Social Worker can also assist with the following:         

o Lost and Found: The lost and found is located with the Social Worker or Administrator. We recommend that valuables be sent home with your family as we are not responsible for any lost or misplaced items. Please contact any department manager if you have lost an item.

o Dental Needs: Should a dental need arise during your stay, there is a mobile dental service that will make house calls. This is a private pay or
some Texas Medicaid service. The dentist DOES NOT bill insurance. If you need this service, please contact the Social Service Director.

o Vision Needs: Should a vision need arise during your stay, there is a mobile optometry service that will make house calls. This is a private pay or some Texas Medicaid service. The optometrist DOES NOT bill insurance. If you need this service, please contact the Social Service Director. 

o Hearing Needs: Should a hearing need arise during your stay, there is a mobile audiologist service that will make house calls. This is a private pay or some Texas Medicaid service. The audiologist DOES NOT bill insurance. If you need this service, please contact the Social Service Director. 

o Podiatry Needs: Should a podiatry need arise during your stay, there is a mobile podiatrist service that will make house calls. The podiatrist can provide routine or emergency foot care. The podiatrist can bill Medicare once a quarter for routine services as long as the resident has certain medical diagnosis. Depending on insurance coverage, there could be a co-pay required at the time of service. If you need this service, please contact the Social Service Director.


Cellphones are allowed. It is asked that you are mindful of others in and out of your room, as this is their home too. We are not responsible for lost or stolen phones.
